Gastroenterology Support Society / Aims of foundation

Social society "Gastroenterology Support Society" was found in 1998. The aim of foundation was to expand gastroenterology speciality. Founders of GSS (mostly gastroenterologists) federates the idea to improve the prestige of gastroenterology, show its importance in nowadays society, search confederates and supporters. GSS:

• journal "Gastroenteroloģijas Aktualitātes" was found in 1999;
• workgroup for Practical Guideliness in gastroenterology was found;
• patient information publishing regarding to the gastroenterology tract diagnostic and treatment;
• organization and support for doctors, participation in congresses and workshops;
• congresses organization: I Latvian Gastroenterology Congress (2003); II Latvian Gastroenterology Congress (2005); III Latvian Gastroenterology Congress (2007); IV Latvian Gastroenterology Congress (2009); V Latvian Gastroenterology Congress with International participation (2011); VI Latvian Gastroenterology Congress (2013); VII Latvian Gastroenterology Congress (2015); VIII Latvian Gastroenterology Congress with International participation (2017);
• involvement of fundings and hold clinical trials;
• member of many professional Latvian and World organisations;
